Rock Weekly Update – October 6, 2021

“Rest In His Will”

  • A Call for people to pray.  This Thursday morning at 8am we are helping a food bank in Englewood with food, but we also need people to come and pray over those receiving the food.  We are called “fishers of men”.  This is an amazing opportunity to fish in a stock pond!  If you are available, please email Lindy@therock.org. 

 

Dear Rock Family,

Last week I emailed about Finding Abiding Rest in God.  I want to continue in this theme the Lord has us in.  Our life of ‘Rest’ is grounded in a life of abiding in Jesus and His love.  Jesus is our “rest” and without Jesus, there is no life in us!   “Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.” (Jn 6:53)  But there is more to our understanding of this!  Many Christians believe that if we love Jesus, worship Him with songs, and read our Bible, that we are living a good Christian life.  I want to challenge us that there is something else critical to living a life worthy of the Lord and being pleasing to Him…living a life of REST in Him. (Col 1:10)  Jesus requires an obedience to the will of God.   He says, “If you obey my commands (the will of God), you will remain in my love (rest).” (Jn 15:10)  Jesus also tells us that in order to love Him, we must obey His teachings and in doing so, the Father will love us and the Father and Jesus will come to us and make their dwelling with us! (Jn 14:23).  And in Matt 7:21, Jesus tells us that only those who do the will of His Father will enter the kingdom of heaven. So, we live lives of rest as we diligently obey Jesus.

God is awakening the hearts of His children right now!  He says, “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”  This is our time!  …To allow our hearts to be awakened to His voice (through the Holy Spirit) and live a life radically sold out and surrendered to His plans and purposes.  It is not about our talents and gifts.   This is actually crippling the church from living in Christ!  We weren’t created to rely on ourselves.  It is about Christ in us!  And when He is in us and we are no longer of ourselves…which takes the pressure off!  In our surrender to Him, He gives us the DIVINE POWER (through the Holy Spirit) to accomplish whatever His will is for us…regardless of how impossible it seems! (2 Pet 1:3)  This is living a life of Faith!  This is RESTING IN HIS WILL!

Now is our time to walk in the fullness of our destiny!

“To live like this is all the more urgent, for TIME is running out and you know IT IS A STRATEGIC HOUR in human history. IT IS TIME for us to wake up! For our full salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. Night’s darkness is dissolving away as A NEW DAY OF DESTINY DAWNS. So we must once and for all strip away what is done in the shadows of darkness, removing it like filthy clothes. And once and for all we clothe ourselves with the radiance of light as our weapon!” (Rom 13:11-12 TPT)
