The Service
A typical service is about three hours long, and includes announcements, corporate prayer, praise-and-worship, ministry time, and a message. However, it is important to us that we make room for the Holy Spirit’s leading and services are adjusted accordingly.
Don’t worry about dressing up special. Instead, at all of our services, you’ll find a casual atmosphere of people who love God and come together to share in that love. None of us are perfect, but we’re united by a common love for Jesus.
Worship
We typically worship for about two of our three hour service. We believe it is very important to wait and linger on the leading of the Lord in our services, and one of the ways we do this is through the worship time. There is plenty of room in our sanctuary to move wherever feels best, and we also provide flags at the front of our sanctuary for people who want to worship with them. If you find the sound level to be slightly high during a particular service, we provide ear plugs on the tables in the back as well as Bibles and tissues for whoever may need them. We hope to worship with you at a Sunday service!
Message
Each week our teaching team of pastors will deliver a message that inspires and equips you to be all that God has called you to be. We believe that God has called each of us for His purposes, and we learn each week how we can bring His Kingdom to Earth as it is in Heaven.
Lighthouse Coffee Shop
We understand most people need some caffeine to get and stay going in the mornings. We offer free drip coffee at little stations near the front door. And if you want something a little fancier, we have a full-service coffee bar on site with drinks available for purchase.
Children
If you have children, they are going to love the children and youth programs at The Rock.
For children 6 weeks – 5 years we have a fantastic nursery & preschool ministry that will love on your little ones while you enjoy the service without distraction.
Children in 1st – 4th grade get to have services in “Rock Island” with where they’ll learn all about Jesus and how to love God.
Young Adults
On top of joining us for Sunday services, young adults ages 18-29 are encouraged to join “Ember” on Friday nights at 7:00pm in the chapel (enter in the office doors on the right side of the building). Come join a hungry and passionate group of young adult believers seeking after God. You can also get connected through the Bible study and prayer times beforehand. Bible study is at 5:00pm and pre-service prayer begins at 6:00pm. We can’t wait to get to know you! Learn more: therock.org/ember
Youth
As children transition out of Children’s Ministry and step into the Student Ministry, we have some excellent staff and volunteers that work hard to help them navigate some of the bumps and transitions of adolescence.
On Sunday mornings students in 5th-8th grade start out in the adult services for our multi-generational worship. After worship they are dismissed from the stage to head back to the Student Center Auditorium for “Club58” where they’ll learn a lesson about living lives for Christ.
High school students on Sunday mornings are encouraged to be a part of the adult services. We believe that these powerful teenagers have the same Holy Spirit that the generations before them do, and invite them to join us as an important part of our church family.
On Wednesday nights, youth (6th-12th grade) meet in the Student Center Auditorium for worship and a message at 6:45pm. Learn more at basecampsm.com
