The Service
A typical service is about three hours long, and includes announcements and corporate prayer, praise-and-worship, ministry time, and a message. However, it is important to us that we make room for the Holy Spirit’s leading and services are adjusted accordingly.
Don’t worry about dressing up special. Instead, at all of our services, you’ll find a casual atmosphere of people who love God and come together to share in that love. All are welcome. None of us are perfect, but we’re united by a common love for Jesus.
If you don’t have a Bible, we’d love to give you one. Near the doors where you enter the sanctuary there’s a table with a sign and a bunch of Bibles. Take one, and consider it a gift from us to you.
Worship
The worship time during our services is pretty special. We don’t like to rush through it. If you enjoy music, you’ll really enjoy our live worship team. We play lots of contemporary, spirit filled, worship songs. Some of our people will often lift their hands during worship, while others are content to just stand and sway with the music. So whether you have no rhythm, or you like to dance while you praise, you’ll find a spot to fit in. If you find the sound level to be slightly high during a particular service, feel free to sit wherever the sound level is the most comfortable. If needed, we provided ear plugs on the tables in the back as well.
Message
Each week our teaching team of pastors will deliver a message that inspires and equips you to be all that God has called you to be. We believe that God has called each of us for his purposes, and we learn each week how we can bring His Kingdom to Earth as it is in Heaven.
Lighthouse Coffee Shop
We understand most people need some caffeine to get and stay going in the mornings. We offer free drip coffee at little stations near the front door. And if you want something a little fancier, we have a full-service coffee bar on site with drinks available for purchase.
Children
If you have children, they are going to love the children and youth programs at The Rock.
For children 6 weeks – 5 years we have a fantastic Nursery & Preschool ministry that will love on your little ones while you enjoy the service without distractions.
Children in 1st-4th Grade get to have services in “Rock Island” with Brennan where they’ll learn all about Jesus and how to hear from God.
Youth
As children transition out of Children’s Ministry and step into the Student Ministry, we have some excellent staff and volunteers that work hard to help them navigate some of the bumps and transitions of adolescence.
On Sunday mornings students in 5th-8th grade start out in the adult services for our multi-generational worship. After worship they are dismissed from the stage to head back to the Student Center Auditorium for “Club58” where they’ll learn a lesson about living lives for Christ.
High school students on Sunday mornings are encouraged to be a part of the adult services. We believe that these powerful teenagers have the same Holy Spirit that the generations before them do, and invite them to join us as an important part of our church family.
On Wednesday nights, youth (6th-12th grade) meet in the Student Center Auditorium for worship and a message at 6:45pm. Learn more at basecampsm.com
Young Adults
Young adults ages 18-29 are encouraged to join Ember Friday nights at 7:00pm in the Chapel (enter in the office doors on the right side of the building). Come join a hungry and passionate group of young adult believers who are on fire for Jesus. You can also get connected additionally through the bible study and prayer times beforehand. Bible study is at 5:00pm and pre-service prayer begins at 6:00pm. We can’t wait to get to know you! Learn more: therock.org/ember
