Last Sunday we prayed for the grace to walk in the light. When we are in Jesus, we have been made new, to shine as lights. I want to encourage you to reach for this in your life throughout this week.

Paul explains this concept in Ephesians 4. We are called as believers to put off the old self and to put on the new self which is created in the likeness of God. We are new creatures in Christ so we must stop clinging to the old self with its lustful desires.

I think of this like putting on a uniform. A general puts on his uniform in the morning because he is a general. The military needs him to accept his role as a general, and put on the uniform, so that he can be identified by all as the leader of his respective command. In a very similar way, through the Holy Spirit we “put on” our new identity in Christ. Your new uniform accords with your new self and is a new way of life. Then, those around you can respond to the goodness, righteousness, and truth that is flowing from your life and come to know the Lord.

Another aspect of walking as children of light is that we expose the darkness. This does not mean that our job as believers is to go through our day looking for the most horrific sins in unbelievers’ lives so that we can write articles about them and trumpet how bad they are. No! What this means is that you once did those very acts of darkness, and now you live a life of light that is so bright that it exposes the spiritual death that darkness produces and calls people into the life they were truly created for; a life in the kingdom of God.

When darkness is exposed by the light, your message is, “Wake up! Arise from the dead, step into the bright shining light of Christ!” We proclaim the excellencies of the one who called us out of darkness into his marvelous light and give that invitation to all people.

Rom 13:10b TPT “…Once and for all we clothe ourselves with the radiance of light as our weapon!”

We love you all,
Pastor Marcus & The Rock Staff
