Time for the Promises

Dear Rock Family,

  • This is the 4th Saturday of the month!  Join our volunteer team this Saturday from 12-4pm as they go up to Denver to share the love of Jesus and help feed and care for those in great need.  Families with kids are encouraged to join.  Email John.Keesen@gmail.com with questions.

“His diving power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.  Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in His divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”  2 Peter 1:3-4

Over the past couple of weeks, the Lord has been speaking to my heart about His promises over us.  I moved to Castle Rock and began attending The Rock church 33 years ago!  Now I have had seasons away from Castle Rock, but in my times here I have collectively heard thousands of words (promises) over The Rock, over the region, over Castle Rock, over myself, and over others.  Many of these words have come to pass and many have not.  I should add a caveat that not every “word” spoken is necessarily of the Lord, but that is for another day.  My point here is that there are words the Lord has spoken over us that have not been fulfilled.  I will speak to this, but first, let me ask a question.  Why does God give us these amazing promises?  The answer is in verse above…so that we can live as children of God, led by the Spirit, and able to walk in the divine nature and character of Jesus.  We were created in the image of God!  To live a life as Jesus lived on this earth.  God gives us His promises through His own glory and goodness so that we can participate in the same life Jesus lived on earth as we walk by faith. (Jn 14:12 & 1 Pet 1:3)

We also know that what God says WILL happen!  His words (promises) never return void!  (Is 55:11)

Numbers 23:19 reveals the character of God – that He does not lie and He does not change His mind. When the Lord speaks, He will act, and when He gives a promise, it will be fulfilled!

So now the question is, “Why don’t we see all God’s promises fulfilled?”  I believe one of the main reasons is because God’s promises are based on a Kairos timing (an opportune time), which means there needs to be an alignment of heaven and earth.  And I can tell you with assurance that heaven is already aligned.  Jesus teaches us to pray “On earth as it is in heaven.”, but it is the words before this that establish the alignment…”YOUR WILL BE DONE”.  This is the conditional part of the promise.  This is our part!  We are the enactors of His will!  As we get to know His ways, His commands, and then walk in obedience to them, we now enact “Your Will Be Done” which then leads to “On earth as it is in heaven”.  2 Cor 10:6 tells us, “We will be ready to punish every act of disobedience (sickness, demonic forces, strongholds, etc) once our obedience is complete.”  John 15:10 says, “If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love.”  Jesus’ last words in Matthew 28:20 are “and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you…”  I believe the Lord desires to see His promises fulfilled in this Kairos time!   It is time we reposition our eyes to be FULLY on Jesus!  It is time we learn His ways and in doing so we will get to know Him!  And it is timewe then walk wholeheartedly in His ways and commands.  It is then what we will see the supernatural power of God begin to work and an outpouring of the Spirit unlike anything we have ever seen.

“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “YES” in Christ. And so through Him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God.”  (2 Cor 1:20)

It is time for our lives to be the ‘Amen!’, the ‘Let it be so!’ as we align with heaven.  Are we ready for what the Lord desires to do with this generation?  The time is NOW!
