Throne Room Empowering Grace For The Race

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”  Heb 4:16 

“…Let us run with perseverance the race that is marked out for us. And let us fix our eyes on (King) Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith.” Heb 12:1b-2a

I love how when we read the Old Testament, it so often gives us a foreshadow of God’s plan through Jesus.  Let’s take a quick look at Esther and Nehemiah.  They both received a calling in their life that would change the course of history.  

Esther, the queen to king Xerxes, was called to save the Jewish people from annihilation. Nehemiah, the cupbearer to king Artaxerxes, received a burden from the Lord to go back to his homeland and rebuild and repair Jerusalem’s walls.   

Esther fasted and prayed for 3 days before fearfully coming into the throne room to request the king’s help. Nehemiah fasted and prayed and then fearfully came before the king to request permission and help to rebuild the city of Jerusalem. In both cases they were granted favor and given what was needed to complete the calling God had given them. 

We are right now on a 3-day fast and are seeking the Lord for His favor and wisdom for the things He has called us to do. Thankfully, we don’t have to go before a king with fear like Esther & Nehemiah, we can enter with confidence because we know our Heavenly King loves us and has purchased our right-standing with Him. 

If you don’t know His calling for your life, seek His face.  He will reveal it. And the beauty of our God is that He doesn’t just give us a calling, but–like Esther & Nehemiah–He also gives us all the resources and the power needed to do what He has called us to do. What wonderful grace!    

God is calling His people to action. Let’s press into His heart, learn His will, and receive His grace to run the race he has marked out for us.

Father God, thank you for your incredible grace which allows us to come into your throne, and to leave with every resource we need to accomplish what you’ve called us to do. We pray that you would continue to make us more and more aware of your presence in our lives, and the grace that’s available to us. Don’t let us strive in our own strength, but help us to lean on you and to live fully dependent on your strength and your empowering grace. Amen.
