The Unshakable Kingdom

Dear Rock Family,

This past week, the Lord has been stirring my heart in a fresh way through the book of Daniel. I recently had a dream that highlighted the importance of this book, and since then, I’ve been drawn back into studying its message. It feels especially relevant for us today.

The book of Daniel is written in what’s called a chiastic structure. This is a literary style that builds toward a central point and then descends, like a mountain peak. At the summit of Daniel’s message is chapter 7, verses 13–14:

“I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.” (Daniel 7:13–14, ESV)

At the center of Daniel’s message is the revelation of Jesus, the Son of Man, receiving the everlasting kingdom. Every other vision, dream, and challenge Daniel faced points toward this truth: the rule and reign of Jesus will endure forever.

Even early in Daniel’s life, God gave him understanding of this same truth. When Daniel interpreted King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of a great statue representing the kingdoms of the earth, he described a stone from heaven that shattered the statue and grew into a mountain filling the whole earth. Daniel explained:

“And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed… it shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever.” (Daniel 2:44, ESV)

This is the story we live in… The kingdoms of this world are temporary, but the kingdom of Jesus will never be destroyed.

So as we walk out our faith day by day, let’s ask ourselves:

  • Is this what my King has commanded me to do?
  • Will this decision please the Lord when He returns?
  • Am I putting my trust in the systems of this world or in the unshakable kingdom that will endure forever?

When we obey Jesus, we are not simply following His commands. We are actually prophesying the future of all humanity. Let me explain…every act of obedience becomes a living witness to the day when every nation will serve and worship the Son of Man. As we choose His ways now, we align ourselves with the destiny that God has appointed for the whole earth. Our obedience now declares that His kingdom is real and is coming. 

As we gather this weekend, we’re going to dive deeper into the book of Daniel and the glory of the coming kingdom. Until then, let’s pray this prayer: 

Lord, give us greater revelation of Jesus as the Son of Man. The One You have chosen to rule and restore the earth in righteousness. Let the vision of His coming kingdom shape our priorities and guide our decisions. May our lives reflect the truth that His kingdom is real, that it is coming, and that it will never pass away.
