The Hope to Which We’ve Been Called

Last week, Pastor Mike called us to walk in the fear of the Lord, reminding us from Ephesians 5 and throughout the Scriptures to take seriously the coming judgment of God and the biblical warnings about who will and will not inherit the kingdom of God. 

This Sunday, we’re going to dive deeper into Ephesians and look more broadly at the message Paul is giving the church throughout the letter.

Early in Ephesians, Paul prays that God would open the eyes of our hearts so that we would “know what is the hope to which He has called us” (Eph. 1:18). The Word of God continually connects ‘seeing our hope clearly’ with ‘how we live faithfully’ today. 

That thread runs all the way through Ephesians. We read about our inheritance, the day of redemption, the coming kingdom, walking as children of light, and finally our need to stand faithfully in the midst of “this present darkness.”

I’m looking forward to opening the Word together and asking a simple question:

If we truly know the hope to which we have been called to by Jesus, how should that affect our daily walk? 

I think Ephesians has a lot to say to us right now. Looking forward to being together Sunday!
