Thank You Holy Spirit

I woke up this morning appreciating and humbled in my relationship with the Holy Spirit. All that I have in my relationship with Jesus has been given to me by the Holy Spirit. He is the one who has enlightened my heart over and over again to know Jesus (Eph. 1:17), and has given me the strength I need to obey His commandments. Through every season of my life, when I cry out to Him, He is always there to lead and transform me into the image of Christ (Titus 3:5). I have definitely not “arrived” in any way, but I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit’s leadership in my life in the process. The more I ask, the more He reveals. The more I obey, the more He empowers. He is such a servant, because He is one with the Servant of servant’s, Jesus.

The Holy Spirit’s primary desire and job description is to lead us in understanding of and obedience to Jesus. In John 14-16, Jesus just can’t stop talking about the Holy Spirit! Look at these amazing realities. He tells His disciples that the Spirit will dwell in them (Jn. 14:17), and that He will teach them all things and bring to their remembrance all that Jesus said to them (Jn. 14:26). Jesus says that the Holy Spirit will testify to them about Him, and empower them to preach (Jn. 15:26-27). Jesus is even bold enough to say that it was better for Him to go, so that the Spirit would lead them in the conviction of sin and righteousness and judgment (Jn. 16:7-8). And finally, Jesus concludes with letting them know that He is going to speak to them many more things after His ascension through the person of the Holy Spirit (Jn. 16:12-15).

1 Corinthians 2 tells us that the Holy Spirit knows God perfectly, searches the depths of God, and reveals specific things God has for us to understand (1Cor. 2:10-12). When I think of this, and the previous teachings of Jesus, I am motivated to spend more time in the Word and in prayer, asking the Holy Spirit for living understanding and a fresh empowering to walk in obedience.

Holy Spirit, thank you for your ministry. Every time I turn to You, You are more than willing to enlighten my heart to the glory of Jesus. Thank you for pulling me back to Jesus’ commands time and time again, and I pray you would give me strength to obey all that He says. Remove from my heart any darkness that might grieve You (Eph. 4:30). You are my source, the seal on my heart for the day of redemption, and the strength I need to walk worthy of Jesus.

With gratitude for you all!
