Prepared for His Presence

Rock Family,

As we continue through this month of prayer, I’ve been thinking about something Pastor Matt called us to in his recent messages: our priestly identity.

He reminded us that we do not pray in order to become priests, but we pray because Jesus has made us a kingdom of priests. And as we behold who He is, we discover why we want to remain near Him – to experience His beauty, holiness, and worth.

This Sunday I want to continue in that same vein and trace this calling through the story of Scripture. The Bible begins with humanity dwelling with God in Eden, ministering to Him, and reigning with Him. Sin and rebellion entered the picture and resulted in exile and distance, yet God never abandoned His desire to dwell with His people.

Then Jesus comes on the scene – in the flesh. And by His blood, He doesn’t merely forgive us; He brings us near.

“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:13

And by the end of Revelation, the story comes full circle: the Bride is ready, the saints are priests, the curse is gone, the tree of life is restored, and God’s people see His face, bear His name, worship Him, and reign with Him forever. Jesus did not merely save us from something. He redeemed us for Himself. Isn’t this amazing?!

That is part of why this month of prayer matters. As we turn our attention to Jesus morning, noon, and evening, in practice now of who we will be forever; a people brought near to behold Him, love Him, and minister before Him for eternity.

I can’t wait to open these Scriptures together this Sunday.

With Love,

Pastor Marcus and your Rock Staff
