Sow & Reap

Hello Rock Family,

We have felt strongly that it is time to call a 3-day corporate prayer and fast.  This will start this coming Monday (3/29) and end Wednesday (3/31).  I would ask that you prayerfully consider joining in with us as we seek the Lord, align, ask, and receive during these 3 days of prayer and fasting!

We will corporately meet on Monday (3/29) from 9-12pm (Mountain Time) in the Prayer Room for anyone who can join and will have a Zoom option for those who can join remotely.

Often we are looking to receive and operate in the amazing things that we read about in the Scriptures, but we can get frustrated when it doesn’t happen.  I want to encourage you not to give up!  I believe there are sometimes kingdom principles that we may need to learn and tap into in these situations.  I want to briefly touch on one of these.  It is the principle of sowing & reaping.

The Word says, “Do not be deceived:  God cannot be mocked.  A man reaps what he sows.  For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” (Gal 6:7-8)    It is evident that sowing is important to God.  Yet we live in a time where most things do not require “sowing”, but instead we can have it almost instantly. When we need food, we just go to the grocery store and grab it.  If we want coffee, we just put a pod in and click a button.  You want a hamburger, you go through a drive-through and have it in your hands in 1 minute!  You need information, just ask your phone or click a button.   You get the point.  We have been programmed to not have to wait for anything we want or need.  Unfortunately for us, this is not the way the Kingdom works.  Sowing requires waiting, pressing in, enduring, patience, perseverance, long-suffering…  All words we avoid at all costs!  But it is in these very ways that we grow in spiritual maturity and we reap a harvest.  This process often requires a humbling, purification, consecration, sanctification, dying to self, to the point where we are able to be vessels that He can use for His purposes!

Proverbs 11:18 says, “The one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward!”  I know every one of us desire to see God glory evident in our lives, but the question is… How much time are we spending SOWING into this?   The words, “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” come to mind as I write this.   God looks at our heart and heart is revealed in our actions!  1 Jn 3:18 “Dear children, let us not love with word or tongue, but with actions and in truth.”   Consider how you are spending your time each week and take a closer look at your credit card statement.  This will give you a good idea of what you are sowing into and how much sowing we are doing.  2 Corinthians 9:6 says this:  “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.”

Please don’t let condemnation in as you read this, but let this be something that stirs us into the greater things God has for us!  Let this motivate us to press into the heart of God and live our lives fully for Him!   My desire is for us to know God’s plan for us, His Kingdom principles, and then to tap into everything He has for us so that we live our lives on this earth to the very fullest!

Last point I want to make is that we get to determine when and how we sow, but God determines the times to reap…but there is a promise that if we sow, we will reap if we don’t quit!

“Let us not become weary in doing good (sow), for at the proper time (God’s opportune timing), we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” – Gal 6:9 NIV
