Remind Me Of Your Love

Remind me each morning of your constant love, for I put my trust in you. My prayers go up to you; show me the way I should go.”  Psalm 143:8

As we move into the Christmas season, the hope and expectancy is that we will operate from a spirit of love to all those around us, that kindness and compassion for the less fortunate will be on the forefront of our mind, that we will stop for the one in front of us regardless of our busy schedule, that we will be caring to those grieving, and overflowing with a spirit of generosity.  Yet, this is not typically what we experience.  Most people are stressed and anxious, quick to respond in anger, too busy to help people in need, and more focused on all the plethora of things that need to be done. The world has taken a season of celebrating Jesus Christ coming into the world to bring love, hope, joy, and true life and turned it into a commercialization of a bearded man in a red and white suit giving presents to children…which in turn has conditioned children (who become adults) to focus on their wants and needs.

So let’s be the ones who intentionally and actively shift this season back to being about Jesus and revealing His Love to the world around us. His love is not of this world, so the world can not produce it.  This LOVE comes from Jesus and is revealed and empowered by His Spirit…who is now living in us!  As we live and walk by the Spirit of God, the fruit of the Spirit is revealed from within us. And the first fruit is LOVE! And this “out of this world” LOVE is patient, kind, without envy or pride. It is void of rudeness. It isn’t easily angered or offended. It actually doesn’t even keep a record of any wrongs. This LOVE rejoices with truth, never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. This LOVE never fails!

Lord, will you encounter us with your Spirit and remind us of this LOVE.  May we be encouraged in heart, knit together in LOVE, and filled with the full riches of complete understanding, so that we may know the mystery of God, namely Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. (Col 2:2-3)  May we be devoted to one another in LOVE, as we honor one another above ourselves. (Rom 12:10)  And as God’s children, born of God and knowing His LOVE, may we LOVE one another so that God’s love may be made complete in us! (1 Jn 4:7,12)  LORD, REMIND US OF THIS LOVE!

There is a song by Jason Upton called “Whisper”.  I would encourage you to stop whatever you are doing and take 7 minutes right now to listen to this song and ask the Lord to REMIND YOU OF HIS LOVE!
