Refocusing Our Prayers

We are in an exciting week!  Tonight is our Regional Prayer & Worship night.  Thursday thru Saturday we have the Refresh Conference at Bridgeway with Heidi Baker and Leif Hetland.  Sunday we will have Jake Hamilton and Leif Hetland with us.  And Tuesday (halloween) we will have a night of regional intercession/prayer and worship with Philip Renner (son of Rick Renner).

In this season, the Lord has been highlighting intercession and prayer for His church and for The Rock.   I believe God is redefining ‘intercessor’ in the church, from being the few and the odd, to ALL…to His Church!  We are in the last days, and in these last days, the Spirit is being poured out on ALL PEOPLE! (Acts 2:17)  He is raising up and AWAKENING the church in this kairos time by the outpouring of His Spirit.  It is an Ezekiel 37 time where the Body of Christ is awakening from a defeated, sleeping position operating with minimal power, very few signs and miracles, and a lack of manifestations of the Spirit, into a ‘vast army’ by the breath of God being prophesied into them and a hope being restored by the power of the Spirit! (Rom 15:13)  We have even seen a significant increase in the number of people having noteworthy dreams and visions over the past couple of weeks.  I want to encourage us, as intercessors, to quiet ourselves and listen to the Lord in the midst of the ‘busyness’ that is clearly being revved up by the enemy to create distractions and take our eyes and ears off of Jesus.  We must wait upon the Lord, put our full trust in Him, and listen carefully to His voice in this time so that we can hear the Word of the Lord and then pray and prophecy into the lives of people and situations in our homes and around the world.  We are entering into a time where we are not going to know what to do or how to respond and our ONLY effective solution is going to be to hear what the Spirit is saying and then respond accordingly! 

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Rev 2:7,11,17,29; 3:6,13,22  (This is stated to all 7 churches in Revelation 2 & 3)

As I woke up this morning, I heard the Lord speak to me about refocusing our prayers to pray specifically for the body of Christ, for the Church, for the saints, for the believers, and not just for the ones here, but around the world and specifically for the believers in Israel!  In short, the Lord was showing me how important to Him it is that, as the church, we are to pray for the church…for the body of Christ!  There was a light bulb that went on in my head and I began to see Scriptures from this perspective. I have known this, but it hit me in a new way, and with deep conviction.  When we read the prayers of Paul, it is amazing that most of them are actually prayers for the church…for the followers of Jesus.  And when we read the prayer of Jesus to the Father in John 17, we see that it is a prayer for the church!   This refocus of prayer is CRITICAL in this time for the awakening of the church into revival.  The Church is the hands and feet of Jesus.  We need to pray for the Church to engage in the desire and heart of the Lord…to see His plans and ways…and then to fully engage in them!  This is Faith followed by Good deeds…God deeds!  This is God’s plan for His people.

           “Be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”  Eph 6:18

Lord Jesus, We ask that your church would be watchful, thankful, and devote itself to prayer (Col 4:2) and we pray that your body would boldly preach the gospel and that signs and miracles would be made known. (Acts 4:12, Eph 6:19)  Give your people the Spirit of wisdom and revelation and awaken hearts so we may have eyes to see the hope to which we were called and give us ears to hear the Word of the Lord so that we may know your good, pleasing and perfect will.  (Rom 12:2, Eph 1:17-18)  Jesus – may we know you and be known by you as you put your love in us so that we, as your church, may make you known to the ends of the earth! (Jn 17:26) Thank you for your unending love for your church. Amen.
