“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders.  And He will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of PEACE.  Of the increase of His government and PEACE there will be no end.”  Isaiah 9:6-7

It often seems like we have the least amount of peace during the time we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  More than 700 years before Jesus was born, Isaiah prophesied the coming Messiah, the Prince of Peace, of whose peace will always increase and never end.  This is a Heavenly peace that the world cannot offer.  When we position our heart and mind in Christ, this establishes God’s peace in our lives.  This happens as we walk by faith (fully trusting the Lord) which requires obedience to the Holy Spirit’s leading and direction.  May we remain in a faith-walk, led by the Spirit, so that we experience the protective covering of God’s nature working in and through us – His love, His joy, His peace,…and so much more! (Gal 5:22)

Sadly, I see some Christians asking God for peace, but then looking to find their peace from things of this world: security, relationships, material possessions, health, finances, etc…   This cannot be!  Jesus, during His final year of ministry on this earth, told us that He was going to leave His peace with us by the Holy Spirit – as the Counselor and the Spirit of truth. This is not a peace the world can offer.  When we take hold of God’s peace, we will know it, because we will not have any fear and our heart and mind will not be troubled, but rather steadfast in God’s peace.  (Jn 14:27; Jn 16:7,13; Phil 2:7)

Lord, I pray that in this special season of celebrating the birth of Jesus, we would allow the PEACE of Christ, through the Holy Spirit, to guide, lead, and be the referee of our hearts! (Col 3:15)

The words of Jesus: “I have told you these things so that in Me you may have PEACE. In this world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!” John 16:33

Merry Christmas!  We love you!
