Humility Overrides The Devil’s Plans

“…What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” – Micah 6:8

“He [the Lord] guides the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble His way.” – Psalm 25:9

“For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; he crowns the humble with salvation.” – Psalm 149:4

“The LORD mocks the mockers but shows favor and grace to the humble.” – Proverbs 3:34

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” – Proverbs 11:2

“Before his downfall a person’s heart is proud, but humility comes before honor.” – Proverbs 18:12

“…I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my Word.” – Isaiah 66:2

A mosquito needs a host to land on and pull blood in order to reproduce. A tick needs a host to dig it’s head into and suck our life-blood to live and reproduce, and a flea needs a host to bite and take blood so that it can lay eggs.  All of these require a host…a place to land so that they can steal blood, cause destruction, and multiply.  In the same way, the devil relies on pride as a host to land and suck the life-blood out of us…to steal, kill, and destroy.  But when we humble ourselves under the blood of Jesus and pride is removed from our minds and hearts, the devil no longer has a host…a place to land. And if the devil can’t land, he can’t steal, kill, or destroy.  May we no longer allow our pride to present ourselves as a host for the devil to land and have access to cause destruction in our lives.  As we humble ourselves under the blood of Jesus, may we be presented holy, blameless, and above reproach in the sight of God, void of a landing zone for the devil.(Col 1:22)  In the words of Jonathan Edwards, “Nothing sets a person so much out of the devil’s reach as humility.”

Lord Jesus, Help us to remain void of pride as we walk humbly before You.  May we keep the eyes of our heart always on you and may our faith arise to live our lives as a testament of the resurrected Christ, the living Word of God, as you empower us by your Spirit.  We desire to become a dwelling place for you to dwell – that the devil would have no access to the life we live on this earth! Amen.

I love you all and happy early Independence Day!
