HAPPILY EVER AFTER OR IN GOD’S WILL?

As I was praying this week, I felt the Lord remind me multiple times not to try and position ourselves or The Rock for comfort and safety, but instead, as we seek God’s face through prayer and fasting, that we would know our assignments and step fully into God’s will for the days we are in…the last days!  I was talking to a missionary earlier this week who spent more than 40 years of his life in Pakistan and has lived much of his life in the face of death.  He said something that really stuck. “I never look to be safe. The best place to be is in God’s will.”  My heart for all of us is that we take hold of the understanding that God’s best is not for us to focus our lives on having a good job, making money, supporting yourself and your family, and then retiring well. Honestly, I don’t think God cares at all how successful you are in the business world. This may be the American dream, but it is actually a way Satan is able to keep many from waking up to the plans of God and actively running the race He has for us.  Jesus tells the church in Revelation 3:1 “…I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up!”  and then in Rev 3:17-18 “You say, ‘I am rich. I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire so you can become rich…”  Jesus is telling the church (us) that success as the world sees it leads to death and the things the world has to offer have absolutely no value to Jesus. Apostle Paul had God’s perspective on life and had a goal of living fully in God’s will!

Acts 20:22-24 “And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there.  I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and COMPLETE THE TASK THE LORD JESUS HAS GIVEN ME – the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.” & Acts 21:13 “…I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

I am not suggesting that we go live our lives on the edge of death, but I am saying that we need to be willing to go and do whatever He calls us to…and if we perish, we perish. (Ester 4:16)  We were created for the battles! Jesus tells us, “In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous, be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy; for I have overcome the world.” (Jn 16:33)  When our life is in Christ, we become more than overcomers and nothing in this world can take away the love, life and freedom we have in Christ!

Over these past couple weeks, I have been so excited to see and hear of many who are getting new assignments for the Kingdom! And many of them are daunting, but let me remind you that God doesn’t give us plans that we can do on our own or that do not require faith. He gives us plans that are impossible without Him, and then He gives us His Divine Power…His Holy Spirit to accomplish all that He has given for us to do.  God has created us in His son Jesus and prepared each of us as a masterpiece to go on an amazing adventure with Him on this earth that will blow our minds. We have been set apart to accomplish beautiful unique tasks assigned by God.  May we remain in His will at all times and be led by the Holy Spirit!

Lord – May we not live for comforts, convenience, pleasures, or our glory, but for the Glory of God.  I pray that through active faith in Jesus we would LIVE like the heroes of the faith who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, gained what was promised, shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, escaped the edge of the sword, had their weakness turned to strength, and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies. (Heb 11:33-34)  I pray Lord that we would be fully prepared, humble, and holy in your sight by the power of the Holy Spirit to step into our God-given assignments and through faith accomplish everything we are created for – for the glory of God!

We love you!
