Filling The Gaps In Our Faith

Hello Rock Family,

It was such a joy to get to share with you all last Sunday. I believe God is stirring our hearts and filling our spirit with more & more faith.  Without faith, it’s impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6), so let’s continue to humble ourselves and ask Holy Spirit to help fill in the gaps of our faith (1 Thess 3:10).

And remember, it’s not just the miraculous, signs-and-wonders type of faith. It’s also the persistent faith. It’s the never-giving-up faith. It’s the day-in-and-day-out faith. It’s the faith that recognizes the importance of tenacious prayer and the value of a lifestyle of worship.

Consider this encouragement from Paul to the Church in Rome:

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”
(Romans 12:1-2 MSG)

Or Paul’s words to the Colossians:

‘Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. ‘
(Colossians 3:1-4 NLT)

This week, let’s increase our focus and our attention on Jesus (Col 3:1). Let’s dedicate even more of our time to prayer, worship, and intercession–the sorts of things that seem like foolishness to this world.

As I said last weekend, “When I see Jesus, I’ll wish I’d given more.” There is no amount of time, or attention, or prayer, or worship, or money, that we could give in this life that would make us think we overpaid when we share in His glory (Col 3:4).

We look forward to seeing you soon,
Pastor Andrew and The Rock staff
