FAITHFUL & WISE SERVANTS
“Who then is the FAITHFUL AND WISE SERVANT, whom the master has put in charge of his household, to give the others their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all the master’s possessions.” (Matt 24:45-47)
Pastor Marcus preached a great message last Sunday around the Matt 24:37 phrase, “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.” We need to understand the times we are in (wise) and know how to respond (faithful), which only comes from spending time with Jesus and hearing His voice. He gave us His Word to prepare us and warn us of the evil days. In Matthew 24, Jesus goes on to say, “Keep watch…you must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at a time when you do not expect Him.” And the next words from Jesus are, “Who then is the FAITHFUL and WISE servant?…” We do not serve a God who is trying to trick us or catch us off guard so that we miss His Son’s return. God’s desire is that all would be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth! (1 Tim 2:4) But at the same time, we Biblically know that many will not be saved. God is looking for those who are wise and faithful to His will and commands…those who are wholeheartedly committed to Him…those who will lose their own life for the sake of Jesus. (Luke 17:33) He is looking for those who love Him with all their heart. And in order to love God we must obey His commands. (1 Jn 5:3) Those who love the Lord wholeheartedly, walk humbly (led by the Spirit), and live their lives in surrendered obedience to His commands and His word are the Faithful and Wise servants Jesus is referring to. With all my heart I desire that each of us would live this way for all our days on this earth. And if we mess up – Repent/Reset/Refire…Repent from your ways, Reset to His way, and Refire your heart! We serve a loving God who gives us His Spirit to lead us. For the Spirit is willing, but our flesh is weak. (Matt 26:41)
PRAYER: Lord, may we all walk out our days in your light and may we live each moment in step with the Spirit of God who is living within us! Mark us with your Spirit that we as your children would be moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit and radically obey your voice and your commands. May we be as the Matthew 25 Wise virgins who kept watch and were prepared with oil for their lamps and like the Faithful servants of the Master’s talents who heard the words, ‘Well done my good and faithful servant!’
“A FAITHFUL person will abound with blessings, but one eager to be rich will not go unpunished…The King delights in a WISE SERVANT, but his anger falls on the shameful.” (Prov 28:20 & Prov 14:35)
May you abound with blessings and may King Jesus delight in you! You are loved!
