Eyes On Jesus In 2024

“Let us FIX OUR EYES ON JESUS, the author and perfecter of our faith…”
 Heb 12:2a

Happy New Year Rock Family!

First off, if you missed last Sunday, you will want to get on-line and listen to the message Pastor Dan Yeackley had for The Rock and for Colorado churches.  This is a very timely, accurate, and powerful word for the church!  Here is the link:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y13K80aza24&t=8s

This Sunday, we will be trying a little different format that is more interactive and relational instead of a teaching.  After worship, we are planning to gather into smaller groups. Our focus will be on John 15:1-17.  I want to encourage you to meditate on these Scripture verses this week in preparation for Sunday.  I believe the Lord is going to use these verses to encourage and align us to be effective and productive in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is going to help get our eyes focused back on Jesus.  And you will have an opportunity to share your thoughts and insight this Sunday.

Here are a couple of ideas to consider as you read John 15:1-17.

What does the Vinedresser do with branches that don’t bear fruit?
What does the Vinedresser do with branches that do bear fruit?
What is the fruit that Jesus is speaking of?
How do we bear fruit that lasts?
What does it mean to abide in Jesus?

And here are a couple of questions to ponder:

What is Jesus desiring to do through you in this season?
With that, what is He pruning?  What is He growing?  And what is He shifting in your life?

As we move into 2024, I have felt a very strong urge from Holy Spirit for the bride to get her eyes and her attention back on the Bridegroom…on Jesus!  I don’t believe this has been intentional, but it is so easy for us to get our focus on the “things” we need to accomplish and the most pressing issues that we are facing.  There are a lot of “good” things we can put our attention on, but that will keep us from the “God” things that have been marked out for us.  If we stop and think for a moment of the number of things that are competing for our attention, it is overwhelming!  I don’t think that is a coincidence.  As we are in the Last Days before the return of our Bridegroom, we have an adversary who is going to any extent to get focus off of our First Love…to come out from the place of abiding in Jesus.   This is why after the writer of Hebrews wrote the famous “Faith” chapter (Chapter 11), he then instructs us to throw off ANYTHING that entangles or hinders us from keeping our eyes on Jesus so that we can run the race marked out for us.  If our eyes are not on Jesus, it will be impossible to run the race.  Imagine running a 400 yard race in a stadium with your eyes focused on the crowd.

“The Son is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact representation of His nature and being, and He upholds the universe by the power of His Word ” Heb 1:3

Knowing this, why would we ever allow our attention to be taken by anyone or anything else!  Jesus is our Maker, the sacrificial Lamb, our Great High Priest, our Bridegroom, the King of Kings, and He is All in All.  He is I AM.

Lord Jesus, we will wait for you, entwine our lives in you, set our gaze upon you.  Give us patient endurance to always abide in you. For apart from you, we can do nothing and our lives will become fruitless. But in you there is an abundant life and fullness of joy!  Thank you for loving us and giving us everything we need to live our lives to the fullest, giving you all the glory!  “But as for me, I will watch in hope for the Lord, I will wait for God my Savior. And my God will hear me!” (Micah 7:7)   Amen

May our Lord Jesus bless you and keep you and make His face shine brightly upon you and give you Shalom peace in 2024!
