DON’T Be Complacent In This Season!

Hi Rock Family,

So I have to admit as I write this email that I got complacent and completely forgot to write this email earlier today.  And I am now writing on the very thing that happened to me!  🙂

When we are going through tough times or in the battle, we are often seeking the Lord for wisdom and direction.  Our spiritual radar is up and we are alert of our situations and listening for Holy Spirit guidance.  But when we are in seasons of rest and not fighting the battles, these are actually the times where we need to be extra careful not to become complacent or get off track.

At the end of Ephesians, Paul says these words, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”   And at the end of 1 Peter, it reads, “Be spiritual-minded and ALERT.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”  How does the enemy try and devour us?  He attacks our minds with thoughts that come against knowledge and will of God.   But not in an obvious way.  He is very good and subtle at what he does – which is why he is called the “deceiver” and the “father of lies”.  This is why we must fight against complacency.

May we NEVER forget that we are in a battle!  A battle is for our lives and for the lives of others.  There are two kingdoms – the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of this world and they do not agree in any way.  One road leads to life and the other leads to death.  There are no other roads…no other options!  This is why Paul warns us to put on the FULL armor.  We absolutely need it for the battle!  And let me say, this is not to be a defensive battle.  Our feet our shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.  Which means we are to go forth.   Romans 10:15 tells us that the feet of those who carry good news are beautiful to the Lord!  May we encourage each other in the faith – to stand firm – to be strong – to endure hardship – and to never get caught up in “civilian affairs”, but keep our eyes on Jesus, listening to the Holy Spirit who reveals the will of the Father, and walking in obedience to the commands, will and direction of the Lord – as brothers and sisters in Christ!
