AUTHORITY COMES THROUGH TEARS

Joel 2:17  “Let the priests, who minister before the LORD, WEEP between the portico and the altar.”

Psalm 126:5 “Those who sow with TEARS will reap with songs of joy.

I want to share something the Lord has placed on my heart this week. To be honest, I am struggling a little in sharing this, because it is a journey I am on…and I have a ways to go!

Our God places great importance on our heart position (our inner being).  It is the position of our heart that ultimately leads us into our actions. I have heard people say God only cares about the heart and not our actions. That is wrong! Both heart and actions are extremely important to the Lord, for it is out of the overflow of the heart that actions are birthed. Jesus tells us in Luke 6:45 that “the good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart.”  And the Bible quotes the Lord in Jeremiah 17:10 saying, “I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve.”  For anyone thinking, that is only the Old Testament, I remind you of what Jesus says in Matthew 7 – only those who DO the will of my Father will enter the kingdom of heaven.  So hopefully this sets the groundwork that we need to do God’s will and that this only comes through a heart alignment with His heart.

So now to the tears…the weeping.  There is something so powerful about knowing the Lord’s heart at such a depth that it brings you to weeping and tears.  I am finding that the more time I spend in the Word and praying with God, I am having encounters that bring me to tears – tears of intercession and travail.  I begin to weep over the things the Lord is showing me and putting on my heart. When this first started happening, it felt very awkward, but as I have engaged in tearful prayers, I have felt my heart become even more alive to the Father’s heart!  And honestly, I have seen a greater power in my prayers.  This weeping and the tears that come in times of prayer can’t be produced on your own.  This is something that comes on us by the Spirit during times of intercession, prayer, or worship…or whenever the Lord puts it on us.  But it is almost always during intimate times with the Lord of prayer or worship. I believe many of our assignments, our battle-ready alignments, and the battle strategies are going to come from times of weeping and tears!  When those special times come, I pray we engage fully and not pull back! It is in these times that I feel my heart becoming so tender to the Lord that I feel His heart!  And this brings my heart into alignment with God’s heart. It is in this position (our heart synced with God’s heart) that the Lord gives authority.  Nehemiah first wept over the Jerusalem wall (Neh 1:4), then the Lord gave him the authority and supernatural wisdom and power to build the wall in fifty-two days… which was seemingly impossible. (Neh 6:15-16)  Jesus first wept over Lazarus (Jn 11:35), then He raised Lazarus from the dead! (Jn 11:43-44)

If you have a chance, listen to the lyrics of this song (Hosanna by Hillsong).

There is a line in this song that goes, “Break my heart for what breaks yours.”

Lord – I pray that you would give us the Spirit of intercession and tears for the things that are on your heart.  Would you break our heart for what breaks yours.  And as we align our hearts to you, we ask you for authority to see your kingdom come and that lives around us would be forever changed for your glory!

We love you!
