The Rock Weekly – June 29, 2022

  • Wednesday Night Service – Tonight will be a Regional Night of Prayer and Worship led by Pastor Dan Yeackley. It is time for the Body of Christ to engage offensively in the battle that rages against our nation and against the next generation!
  • Family Breakfast this Sunday (7/3) from 9-9:30am in the foyer!  We will be serving a free breakfast before the service this Sunday. Invite others!
  • Corporate Fasting and Prayer – July 5th & 6th – We will go into a time of fasting and praying as a church for 2 days (skipping July 4th) – Tues, July 5 – Wed, June 6.  I want to encourage you to press into the Lord as we ask for heaven’s blueprints for discipleship strategies.

 

Strength For The Assignment

I find myself praying more frequently for God to strengthen me for the assignments He has placed on my life.

Paul writes in Ephesians that we are to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might (Eph. 6:10). We are not called to be strong on our own, but in the power and might that the Lord provides. The enemy has plans to distract, discourage, and destroy the people of God, but the Lord has given us instruction on how to fight. We fill our minds with the benefits of our salvation (helmet), walk in truthfulness (belt), stand for righteousness (breastplate), actively share the gospel (boots), grow in faith (shield), consume the word (sword), and pray in the spirit and with our understanding (Eph. 6:14-17). If we pursue a lifestyle that values these virtues, we will find ourselves experiencing the STRENGTH that Jesus has purchased for us. 

Earlier in Ephesians, we find Paul praying for the church of Ephesus. In his prayer he asks that God would strengthen the church through the power that the Holy Spirit releases. This power is given to experience His love that surpasses our human intellect and fills us with the fullness of God’s presence (Eph 3:14-18). God’s desire is that we would be filled with the fullness of His presence so that this power-presence would flow out to others. 

At the beginning of this year, the Lord spoke to Mike that this was going to be a year where He would strengthen our hands for the work He has set before us (Neh 6:9; Isaiah 35:3-4). I think that the Lord has done great things this year, but there is an invitation to ask for fresh strength because He has amazing things on the horizon. We believe a harvest of souls is coming and we are going to need the strength to disciple them. We will share more on this in the coming weeks, but for now join us in renewing your commitment to a lifestyle that God values and empowers, praying for strength to experience His love and fullness, and asking for God to strengthen our hands for the work He has set before us and the Harvest that is coming.
