Prepare The Way of The Lord
- Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. (Mal 3:1a)
- A voice of one calling “In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. (Is 40:3)
I believe God is raising up men and women to “prepare the way of the Lord” in this generation. This is for a move of His Spirit now, and for His soon return to the earth.
Malachi writes to this generation. He says that anointed, Spirit-filled, Jesus-exalting messengers are going to rise up and prepare the way for King Jesus. In response to this, the Lord will come and fill His temple and nations will lay down their idols and take delight in Jesus alone (Mal. 3:1). The Lord is doing this now as He is responding to repentance with seasons of refreshing by His Spirit and we will experience this in fullness when He returns and establishes His kingdom on the earth. (Acts 3:19-22)
Malachi tells us these messengers will address two specific false accusations that will be in the earth at that time: 1) Does the Lord delight in people that do evil and do not turn to Him in repentance? 2) Is the Lord ever going to respond to injustice and make wrong things right? (Mal. 2:17)
His “Messengers of good news” (Is. 40:9) will respond to these accusations by pressing into the same anointing that rested on John the Baptist, and call people to repent of their sin and “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (Jn.1:29). Jesus is the only one who can make them clean before God, and He is the only one with the wisdom and power to bring forth justice in the earth. (1 Cor 1:24)
In these last days, the church will be so united in their proclamation of Jesus, that it will be heard as a SINGULAR voice calling out “prepare the way of the Lord”. (Is. 40:3) Jesus’ prayer of unity in John 17 will be answered, and God will grant His people one heart and one voice to glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 15:5-6). As darkness increases we will experience accusations against our God and we will feel the intimidation of the “Anti-Jesus” spirit in this nation (1 Jn 4:3), I want to encourage you to respond by being the messengers God has called us to be. So – get in the Word! Pray, worship, and seek the face of God! Come into unity with the body of Christ – His family. And do the will of God…practice what Jesus tells us to do. May we love God with all our hearts and love others by spending our lives as messengers of good news…telling others of the love and power of Jesus as we live our lives as ambassadors of Jesus and ministers of reconciliation. As we do this, we will experience the power of the Spirit bearing witness to the preaching of the gospel!
