Living Hope–Our Future in Christ

[1Pe 1:3 ESV] “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the “living hope” God has given us through the resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. Scripture reminds us that we were once alienated from God’s promises, “without hope in the world” (Eph. 2:12). But through Christ’s blood and our faith in His sacrifice, we have been brought near to God (Eph. 2:8,13) and granted His favor. Because of this, we are partakers (2 Pet. 1:4) and co-heirs (Rom. 8:17) of all that God has promised His Son.

Many Christians don’t often consider that Jesus has a future. Though He has been given authority to judge and rule, there is a coming day when He will fully manifest that authority and share it with His saints (Dan. 7:27). Since Jesus has a future as a resurrected human, so do we—and the Bible calls this reality hope.

Here’s a glimpse of the future we will share with Him:

  • Jesus was raised from the dead, and we will be delivered from death. (1 Cor. 15:22-26)
  • Jesus will inherit the nations, and He will give us part of that inheritance. (Ps. 2:7-8, Is. 49:6)
  • Jesus will disciple the nations in the knowledge of God, and we will help Him. (Isa. 2:1-5)
  • Jesus will reign as King over the nations, and we will help administer His Kingdom. (Rev. 3:21; Matt. 19:28-30)
  • Jesus will be given the glory of His Father, and He will share that glory with us. (Matt. 16:27; Rom. 8:18)
  • Jesus will be rewarded for His faithfulness, and He will reward us for our faithfulness to Him. (Phil. 2:9-11; Matt. 25:21)

I encourage us to keep this hope at the forefront of our hearts and align our lives with these spiritual truths. Jesus calls us to set our eyes on this future, to be bold and faithful witnesses in this age, and to point others toward His glorious Kingdom—letting them know they, too, can share in His inheritance.

With Much Love,
Pastor Marcus and your Rock Staff
