ROCK WEEKLY UPDATE – “Jesus Is Alive and In Us!”
|
Hello Rock Family, *Easter is this weekend! We have added a Saturday night Easter service starting at 5:00pm in addition to our regular Sunday morning 9:45am service. I want to encourage…no…challenge you to invite an individual or family to join you. Let’s be about the Father’s business! There are many who are just waiting for an invitation…and this could change their life forever! *TONIGHT at 6:30pm the Colorado Multiethnic Coalition will be meeting at The Rock. Come hear the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Tamrat Layne, share an amazing testimony of encountering Jesus! I know we have likely read and reread the many Scriptures that tell us Christ is alive and in us…(Jn 14:20; Rom 8:10; 1 Cor 3:16; 2 Cor 4:7; Gal 1:16; Gal 2:20; Gal 4:19; Eph 3:17; Col 1:27; 1 Jn 4:4; and so many more). But have you stopped long enough to actually consider the implications of this? And even more importantly, have you taken hold of this revelation that the one who created all things in heaven and on earth and holds all things together is living within us. I believe we often think of this as a “nice idea”, but I am not sure we actually take a hold of this wisdom and power and have it activated in our lives! In Galatians 2:20, Paul tells us that he has been crucified with Christ and he no longer lives, but it is Christ who lives in him. I see two parts to this. First, there is a death to ourselves that is necessary. We can’t put on the “new” until we let go of the “old”. Second, there is new life we are then given that empowers us with EVERYTHING we need to live the fullness of life God intended for us! This is a life that goes beyond our own abilities and beyond our imagination! It’s like this…imagine if someone walked up to you and told you they were giving you joint access to a bank account that had a limitless supply of money for the rest of your life…with only one caveat. You can’t have access to it until you give away your own personal bank account. You would think everyone would say “yes!” However, I believe the more accurate response to this has been, “Well, I am excited about the possibilities of this new joint account, but I don’t want to take the chance of it not working out like I expect. So I am not going to close out my account until I have access to the new joint account.” The problem is…that is not the way it works! Remember, we are the clay and not the potter. We can’t tell God how to do things, or that we have a better way…although we try. Matthew 16:25 (paraphrased) tells us that as long as we keep our lives, we can’t take hold of Christ in us and live the life He has for us. I want to encourage us together to say “YES” fully to the wisdom, power, righteousness, holiness and redemption of Jesus (1 Cor 1:24,30). That we would lay down our own lives, the things of this earth that we worry about, the things of this earth that we love, and anything else that captures our gaze, our attention, our time, our money, or our heart – all things that are not eternal. This is the removal of all ‘idols’ in our lives. And in turn set our gaze (our heart and attention) not on what we see in the natural, but on what is unseen – on the eternal – on the kingdom of God! I promise you that you will not regret it! It will free you from the weights that entangle us and keep us from the victorious life intended for us. Lord – may the fear of lack never hold us back from the wonder of your endless and abounding love and goodness!
