The Rock Weekly – July 16, 2025

 

Behold the Lamb of God

“The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”  (John 1:29 ESV)

This week our youth (and many of our staff) are away at a Youth Summer Camp in Nebraska. Their theme this year is “Behold”, and I’m thrilled to hear the testimonies that they’ll share this coming Sunday! 

As they spend this week beholding Jesus, we are praying and anticipating a 2 Corinthians 3 type of moment for them: 

“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” (2 Cor 3:18 ESV) 

We are believing that our young people will come back from camp transformed because they have beheld the glory of the Lord. And while we celebrate what God is doing for them, may we also use this as an opportunity to behold the Lord ourselves and reach for all God has made available to us in Christ. 

Perhaps we aren’t able to get away from every distraction like our youth (although our men can sign-up now to get away in September); but let’s still make time in our mornings and throughout our days to behold Christ and be transformed into His image.  What is more important than that?

Father God, we pray that as we move through our day we would be reminded of your nearness and we would turn to behold you. Not just noticing you, but totally focused on you. We pray that you would give us grace to turn off distractions and encounter you in such a way that we are transformed. Thank you for your Holy Spirit that does this work in our lives as we surrender in a posture of beholding. Amen
