Alignment for Assignment

Jeremiah 10:23  “I know, O LORD, that a man’s way is not his own; no one who walks directs his own steps.”

Did you know that you were put on this earth for a SPECIFIC assignment?  In my own life I can tell you that I have not always had this revelation, but it has become very evident to me over the past 8 years.  I believe the overwhelming majority of people today do not realize that God has designed a specific plan (assignment) for each of their lives.  And I can tell you with complete assurance that this ‘assignment’ is not to just marry, have children, get a good job, save money, enjoy life, retire well, and die. 

Jer 29:11 “For I (the Lord) know the plans I have for you.”  

Psalm 139:16  “…All the days designed for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

Eph 2:10  “We are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus, to do the good things God planned for us long ago.”

These Scriptures remind us that God created specific plans for each of our lives.  We most likely don’t know these plans, so we must be careful not to make our own plans and then ask God to bless them.  That is a posture of pride and it never ends well.  Each one of us are created to live our lives in Christ Jesus.  Outside of this, life will be empty, meaningless, and unfulfilled…regardless of how successful we are, how much worldly wisdom we have, or how much money we accumulate.  Solomon (having more success, more wisdom, and more riches than anyone on the face of the earth) came to the conclusion in Ecclesiastes 12 that ‘everything (of this world) is meaningless!’ and that the only important duties in life are to fear God (Alignment) and walk in His commands (Assignment).

So how do we live our lives in Christ?  Only through complete surrender and submission (Alignment) to the Holy Spirit and in radical obedience (Alignment) to the commands of Jesus.  When we come into this Alignment, we step into the Assignment God created for each of us.   

Romans 8:5-8, 14 TPT  “Those who live motivated by the flesh only pursue what benefits themselves.  But those who live by the impulses (ALIGNMENT) of the Holy Spirit are motivated to pursue Spiritual realities.  The mind set on the flesh is death but the mind controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace!  In fact, the mind focused on the flesh fights God’s plan and refuses to submit to His direction (out of alignment), because it cannot.  For no matter how hard they try, God finds no pleasure with those controlled by the flesh (out of alignment).  The children of God are those, and only those, who are moved by the impulses (ALIGNMENT) of the Holy Spirit.”

Lord – May we never try to determine our own steps, but may we humble ourselves, seek your face, and come into full alignment for the beautiful assignment you have for each of us.  And may we fully carry this assignment out through the divine power of the Holy Spirit given to us for life and for godliness! (2 Pet 1:3) AMEN!
