Abiding By Loving
Hello Rock Family,
*DON’T MISS this Sunday! We are blessed to have two amazing people with us. This was not pre-planned, but I do believe this is God’s plan. Corey Russell is an international speaker, author, revivalist, intercessor, husband, father, and great friend and will be sharing a message with us. Jake Hamilton is also an international speaker, world-renowned artist and worship leader, intercessor, thought-provoker, husband, father, and great friend and will be leading worship. I believe God is going to light a fire in our hearts!
*These last three days have been very enlightening as we have been fasting and praying as a staff and church. I want to share something with you that will revolutionize our lives if we take hold of this!
We know God’s love for us is great – beyond anything we can fathom. That is clear from the Scriptures and by encounters where we have experienced the Father’s love. But God doesn’t want us to just have experiences of His love or just read about it. He created us to LIVE/ABIDE/REMAIN in His Love! This is the fullness of life in Christ. In John 15:4&5, Jesus profoundly states, “Remain in me, and I will remain in you…If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit, but apart from me you can do nothing.” So how do we remain in the love of Jesus? So glad you asked! 🙂 John 15:9-17 has the answer. Let me paraphrase… Jesus loves us with the same love the Father had for Jesus on this earth. Amazing! But to live/abide/remain in this love, we must walk in obedience to the commands of Jesus, in the same way Jesus remained in the Father’s love by obeying His commands. And what does Jesus command? – That we LOVE each other just as Jesus loved us. We often focus on loving Jesus, but our love for others not often evident…especially when they do something to hurt or offend us. But Jesus doesn’t give any leniency to this. It doesn’t matter how people treat us. The command is to love as Jesus loved…period. This is how we remain in God’s love. The good thing is that we have the Holy Spirit who empowers us through His leading to walk in this love. But we must still choose to do so. 1 John 4:21 tells us, “Whoever loves God must also love his brother.”

When this is understood and lived out by the church, I believe we will see God pour out His Spirit of revival and the power and glory of God will be revealed through the Church in greater magnitude than ever before!
By this the world will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another! (Jn 13:35)
