Rock Weekly Update – September 1, 2021

Time to Take Territory”

Dear Rock Family,

  • Come join the Castle Rock Day of Prayer – THIS Saturday (9.4) from 9-11am at Festival Park.  We will worship and pray with more than 20 pastors of churches from the Castle Rock area and with some of our government leaders.  We need your engagement in this and believe the Lord will command a blessing over this City and our County as we come together in unity and pray! CLICK HERE to watch the Castle Rock Day of Prayer Video or go to www.CastleRockDayOfPrayer.com

  • THIS SUNDAY (9/5) prepare to go out and share the love of Jesus with those that are “like sheep without a shepherd”(Matt 9:36).  These are some of my favorite times when we see God do amazing things.  The expectation is for this service to be shorter than normal and end with communion.
  • Guest Speaker Brian Fenimore will be with us for our Wednesday service at 6:45pm tonight.

There is a Promise Land before us.  Under the Old Covenant this was looked at as territory, but under the New Covenant, territory looks like people or souls. We call this the “harvest”.  Jesus tells us that, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.”  I find that the “church” often settles to be just a training ground for Jesus’ great commission to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them all the commands of Jesus.” (Matt 28)  Sadly, most Christians get comfortable with staying in the “training ground” or they get distracted by “getting involved in civilian affairs” (2 Tim 2:4) which are the distractions of the world and never enter the battle to take territory! We are in a season where it can be SO EASY to get our eyes off of Jesus and the commands and commissioning He has for us.  Our short time on this earth (compared to eternity with Jesus) is not meant to be comfortable in any way.  On the contrary, the Bible tells us to “endure hardship like a good soldier”.  This is the Enduring Faith we have been focusing in on for a couple weeks.

I want to clarify that I don’t believe this means we are to put our head in the clouds and become ignorant of what is happening on earth.  On the contrary, we are called to rule and reign on the earth.  But not with worldly wisdom.  For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s greatest wisdom!  Jesus is true wisdom and He as the creator of all things. Only Jesus understands how we are to act and rule powerfully on this earth.  He is wiser than all kings and He is supreme in everything! (Col 1:18)  So we can’t afford to take our eyes off of Him…even for an instant! How do we do this when chaos seems to be all around us?  It can only happen by a constant communion with the Holy Spirit who is in us and has been given to us as a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance as we walk by faith and endure to the end.

Joshua, after he had been promised the land flowing with milk and honey, had to take territory by fighting and defeating 31 kingdoms in the first wave of battle.  This was no easy feat and actually it was impossible without God.  Every battle Joshua fought had a miraculous story of God intervening!  If we are fighting battles and not seeing the miraculous wonders of God, we may want to question whether we are fighting the Lord’s battles or our own.  May this Sunday be a day you will never forget as you see the Lord move in amazing ways as you battle and take territory.

The following calling are words for us to live by!

“My delightfully loved friends, in these last days, constantly and progressively build yourselves up in the fountain of your most holy faith by praying every moment in the SpiritFasten your hearts to the love of God (Eyes on Jesus!) and receive mercy from our Lord Jesus Christ, who gives us eternal life.

Keep being compassionate to those who still have doubts, and snatch others out of the fire to save them.  Be merciful over and over to them, but ALWAYS couple your mercy with the fear of God!  And be extremely careful to keep yourselves free from the pollutions of the flesh (and world).”  [Jude 1:20-23 TPT]

We love you!
Pastors Mike & Kristi and your Rock Staff family
