The “Problem” with your Problem is Your Perspective
This Sunday, you are going to hear from someone who doesn’t allow problems to overcome him, but has learned how to overcome the problems with Christ’s perspective! You have probably heard the saying “The grass is greener on the other side”. Sadly, it most often isn’t, but from our perspective it can look that way until we get to the ‘other side’. Regardless of the situations you may be in right now…I can tell you that your situation is NOT the problem. And if you go to the ‘other side’, the problem isn’t going to be solved. The problem is Perspective!
When Jesus walked with the disciples for 3 years, they faced many, many ‘problems’. They ran out of wine at the wedding, they fished all night and couldn’t catch a single fish, they had many sick people come to them and people with incurable diseases, they encountered Jairus’ daughter who died as they went to pray for her, Lazarus died because Jesus didn’t get there in time, they faced deadly storms on the Sea of Galilee, they had a lack of money to pay the taxes and a lack of food to feed 5,000 hungry men and their families…and then 4,000 hungry men with their families, and so many more of these “problems” that I could mention. It’s interesting that we often have this unspoken false thinking in the church that if we are walking with Jesus, we shouldn’t have any ‘problems’. But based on the Scriptures, this is absolutely untrue!
Remember when they brought the demon possessed boy, who kept jumping into fire or water to kill himself, to Jesus because his disciples couldn’t heal him? Jesus responds, “O unbelieving generation.” They then said, “If you can do anything, take pity and help us.” To which Jesus responded, “If you can?? Everything is possible for him who believes (has faith).” Jesus later talks with His disciples and explains the importance of prayer and fasting. (Mark 9:17-29)
I want to encourage us to increase our times of prayer and fasting! This will help to align our mindset with heaven’s…giving us the right Perspective! We have corporate times of prayer and fasting. Don’t miss these times. We have a Prayer Room that is open day and night! Come and pray! We need to shift from an “unbelieving people with no authority” to a “believing people with all authority” and this will come when we shift our hearts and minds into a right perspective through times of prayer!
Jesus’ intent isn’t to keep us from our problems or keep us in our problems. His intent is for us to face our problems with Heaven’s Perspective! He didn’t call us to be peacekeepers, He called us to be peacemakers!…ones who run into the storms and speak ‘PEACE’! May we not be ones who just read the temperature in the room (thermometers), but may we be ones who set the temperature of the room (thermostats)! The apostle Paul reminds us in Philippians 4:13 that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us! The key to this statement is “through Christ who strengthens us”. I pray that we would no longer fear the problems we face, but that our perspective would shift through prayer so that we would realize that every problem is an opportunity to reveal the glory of the Lord.
Let’s pray this together…
Lord Jesus, would you give us the faith of a mustard seed to move the ‘problem’ mountains we face! May you be in us through your Spirit so that the hope of glory is evident around us! May we complete the work you have given us with the strength of the Spirit in us and may we not be side-lined by the fear of the ‘problems’ we face, but remain in the battle through faith! May we do the impossible and become more than conquerors in the face of death and hardships. Help us to set our minds and our hearts on the heavenly things…on your Kingdom, instead of on the earthly, temporal things that have absolutely no eternal value! Give us your heavenly perspective and keep us from our own understanding and worldly perspective and from worries and concerns that only choke out your plans and purpose for our lives! And deliver us from our grumpiness, fear, unbelief, and complaining! May we be JOYFUL ALWAYS, PRAY CONTINUALLY, and GIVE THANKS IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES, for this is the will of the Father in Christ! Amen!
Let’s get on our knees and be the world-changers God has called us to be! I love you all!
