Palm Sunday – The Cross of Christ

Church family,

As we approach Palm Sunday and Easter week, I want to invite you to slow down and set your heart on Jesus, our humble King. 2000 years ago, He entered Jerusalem knowing the cross was before Him, and He came willingly in love to save us.

Galatians tells us that Jesus “gave Himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age” (Gal. 1:4). He did not only come to show us a better way to live, but to step into our place, bear the judgment we deserve, and rescue us from eternal punishment through His sacrifice.

What Jesus accomplished at the cross is something we could never do for ourselves. Through His blood we have been set free from our sins (Rev 1:5), forgiven, made right with God, and redeemed from the power of death. And yet, as glorious as that is, the story is not finished. Hebrews reminds us that Christ “will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him” (Heb. 9:28).

So as we reflect on the cross of Christ, we do not only hear the invitation to receive forgiveness, but also the call to remain faithful. We hold fast to Jesus. We keep following Him in obedience, loving one another well, and discipling those He has entrusted to us as we wait for His appearing and for the coming of His kingdom.

Before you come this Sunday, take a few moments to be still before the Lord and pray:

Father, thank You for the gift of Your Son. Thank You that through His death I am forgiven, justified, and redeemed. Strengthen my heart to follow Jesus with obedience and hope as I wait for eternal life and the coming kingdom. Let my eyes be fixed on Him and my heart remain true to Him all the days of my life.
