Intimacy Unlocks Accuracy

“Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.”  Psalm 86:11

Have you ever tried to drive to a new destination without first getting directions?  I am assuming the answer by most men is  ‘yes’.  😊   How did it work out for you?  Now consider your life.  What is our ultimate destination?  If you are reading this, I am hoping your answer is to be in heaven with Jesus for eternity.  The concern I have when I talk to people…often Christians…going through life and hitting some roadblocks, bumps, potholes, dead-ends, or going in circles, is that when I ask the question, “How much unhurried and alone time are you spending with Jesus?” I often hear the answer, “Well…not much.” Or “I really don’t have that time right now.” Or “A little, every so often, when I can.” Or “I need to spend more time with Him.”   I have actually never heard the response, “I spend too much time with Jesus.”  Yet we know that Jesus is “the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE”. (Jn 14:6)  So if we are going to go through life with our ultimate destination being heaven, how important is it that we have directions…that we know the WAY?  Yet, so often, we are more willing to get our ‘directions’ from podcasts, preachers, counselors, YouTube videos, or bestseller books, instead of spending our time with Jesus.  ONLY intimacy with Jesus will unlock the accuracy to know the WAY to our destination.  David’s prayer in Psalm 86 (above) is one that should resonate on our lips and in our lives DAILY!

The Rock has been in 3 days of fasting and prayer (a rhythm we do every month) and it has been an absolutely amazing time in the presence of the Lord and yet, at the same time, difficult as our bodies would love to eat.  But that’s the point!  Jesus tells us that He is the “bread of life” and the “living bread” in John 6 and in John 4 and 7, He tells us we can come to Him and drink His water, and we will never thirst!  For this water becomes a fountain that wells up to eternal life and a stream of living water that will flow from within us. I want to tap into THAT water!  …The water of the Spirit… and no longer rely on my fleshly instincts and worldly wisdom that often get me in trouble and take me off the path of Christ.  This past Tuesday (yesterday), The Rock staff actually stopped all work, closed the office, and spent the entire work day seeking Jesus in prayer, worship, and the Word in our prayer room – and everyone left their cell phones outside the doors!  You have heard the saying, ‘Desperate times call for desperate measures.’  Well, I believe we are in desperate times, and setting aside unhurried and uninterrupted times of Intimacy with Jesus is the ONLY measure that will unlock the Accuracy we need…to know the WAY that leads to life!

Lord Jesus, may we humble ourselves and come to the place of needing intimacy with You. Would you reveal your WAYS to us, and would you guide us by your Spirit and your truth, that we may be true worshipers of you!

“Show me your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day…You guide the humble in what is right and teaches us Your WAY.”  Psalm 25:4-5,9

May our lives be fully in Christ.  I love you!
Pastor Mike & your amazing Rock staff
