Faith to Surrender: The Process of Sanctification

July 7, 2021

Dear Rock Family,

  • SIGNUP NEEDED:  We had a great first Fathers & Mothers meeting back in May after our Sunday service.  I love how the Lord is weaving things together and teaching us to walk in His ways!  We are going to war for our spiritual (and biological) sons and daughters and for the prodigals.  We are learning to love with the love of Jesus and walk in faith in the midst of trials and storms.  And we are gaining an understanding of God’s ways and how to humbly and fully surrender to Him so we can walk fully in His plans…by the Spirit.                                                                                 We would like to regather for a short time after the service THIS SUNDAY (July 11th) for a follow-up meeting in the Student Auditorium (gym) for a 1-hour interactive meeting.  If the Lord is stirring your heart to engage as a spiritual father/mother in this season to raise up spiritual sons and daughters, please join us!  We will provide lunch and childcare (10 & under).  PLEASE RSVP by this Friday by Clicking Here to help us know how many childcare workers we will need and how much food to order.
  • Youth Reminder:  This Friday is the last chance to sign up for Summer Camp – July 22-24!Base Camp Summer Camp July 22-24

We are wrapping up three amazing days of fasting and prayer and I wanted to bring you into some of the things the Lord has been revealing and stirring in our hearts.  I believe God is establishing spiritual fathers and mothers in the Faith that will lead the charge of revealing the sons and daughters of God that creation is waiting in eager expectation to see! (Rom 8:19)
Pray this:  “Lord – as I read this, I pray you open the eyes of my heart to give me spiritual wisdom and understanding to know your will and your ways.  Help me to take my eyes off my needs and concerns and to put them on you Jesus and on your ways!”

2 Thess 2:13 tells us that “…God chose us to be rescued out of destruction and established in His salvation through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the Truth!”  Often in the Church, it is said that we just need to say a simple prayer and that gives fire insurance – regardless of how we continue to live our lives.  But Scripture tells us that grace comes ONLY through faith…not just through a prayer.

Romans 3:23-24 reminds us of the important part we play in sanctification – which is perfected salvation!  “…and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood-to be received by faith.”   Ephesians 2:8 reiterates this need for faith: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith.

God’s plan isn’t for us to just say a prayer and be ‘saved’, but to believe through a pursuing and persistent faith and trust in Jesus that allows the Holy Spirit to work within our hearts and sanctify us.  We must continually die to our own flesh and put on the nature and character of Christ – which leads us into God’s ways.  This is the beauty of salvation and sanctification that we are called into!  Salvation is not a destination, but a sanctification process of walking in step with the Spirit into the fullness of God’s plan and purpose for our life.

Philip 2:12-13 “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed…continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose.
It is in this process that the Holy Spirit will lead our hearts into a full understanding and expression of God’s love and give us the persistence of Christ to endure all circumstances we come against. (2 Thes 3:5)
It is in this process that we will walk in the wisdom of heaven that is pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere…establishing us as peacemakers – sons of God who will sow the peace of Christ and see a harvest of righteousness! (James 3:17-18)
It is in this process that the favor of the Lord will rest upon you and He will establish the work of your hands! (Ps 90:17)

May we not be content with our ‘salvation’, but hunger and thirst for our sanctification!
So LORD we pray that – as we constantly use our FAITH, the life of Christ will be released and live deep inside us, and the resting place of His LOVE will become the very source and root of our lives!  (Eph 3:17 TPT)  THIS is what God desires for us: To walk by FAITH, be led by the Spirit, and be washed by the Word…the process of Sanctification!
