Do Not Fear Little Flock

“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
Luke 12:32

Fear is the paralyzing tactic the enemy uses to capture his foes…the sheep of King Jesus – our Good Shepherd.  If the enemy is able to bring in fear, he can then take us out of the protection we have when we live by faith…when we live by His voice.  For the righteous walk and live by faith (Rom 1:17, 2 Cor 5:7, Gal 3:11, Heb 10:38)!  It is faith which becomes a shield, giving us the ability to extinguish every flaming arrow of the evil one (Eph 6:16)!  And it is through faith that you are shielded by God’s power until the coming of salvation that will be revealed when Jesus returns (1 Peter 1:5)!

Last Sunday we focused on Psalm 23 – with the understanding that we are sheep and in great need of a shepherd who will provide provision, protection, and guidance for us.  We weren’t created to receive this on our own, but with humility and faith, we surrender our ways to follow the Good Shepherd’s ways and He, in return, promises to never leave or forsake us…for eternity!   That is a pretty good exchange.

You may be saying that you are fine right now and don’t need a thing, but I would like to kindly push back and say that we aren’t training our hearts and minds for today, we are training them for the storms ahead, so that when they do come, and they will, our lives won’t come crashing down, but we will remain strong with a faith, strength, and foundation established on the Rock (Jesus) instead of the sand of this world…this current age.  For in the times we are not in a battle, we must be in strict training (1 Cor 9:25) as if we were…for one is coming and we do not want to shrink back and be destroyed, but be those of faith who are victorious and preserve their soul (Heb 10:39)!

Remember when the Lord told Joshua to cross the Jordan and take the promised land?  Although Joshua was not in battle and had no plan to be in one, the Lord told Joshua THREE times to be strong and courageous and not to be terrified or discouraged!…all within a span of 4 verses of Joshua 1 (verses 6-9). This was needed because there were about to be 31 battles against other kingdoms and the Lord needed to prepare Joshua!  May we be prepared for battle!

Throughout King David’s life, the enemy tried to use fear to grip his heart and destroy him, but his heart trusted in the Lord, he remained (in prayer and trust) in the house of the Lord, walking in the ways of the Lord. This sustained and protected him from every enemy and established him on the Rock!  Psalm 27 is a great set of scriptures to meditate on as we prepare our heart for battle!

“The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—whom shall I dread? 2When the wicked came upon me to devour my flesh, my enemies and foes stumbled and fell. 3Though an army encamps around me, my heart will not fear; though a war breaks out against me, I will keep my trust. 4One thing I have asked of the LORD; this is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and seek Him in His temple. 5For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; He will conceal me under the cover of His tent; He will set me high upon a Rock.”  Psalm 27:1-5

Please be in prayer for the 31 men who will be at the Men’s Advance in the mountains this Thursday thru Saturday.  Breakthrough is coming and there are men of God who will be carriers of the torch to release the fire of God into the hearts of God’s people!… May we seek first the Kingdom of God, without any fear of this world, for it is our heavenly Father’s great pleasure to give us the Kingdom! (Luke 12:31-32)

Hope to see you tonight at 7pm for prayer and worship.  May His Kingdom Come!
