The Rock Weekly – June 4, 2025

 

A Word for This Season: By My Spirit

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.”
— Zechariah 4:6

This verse is often quoted in times of challenge, but its original context carries a specific and timely message for us.

It was first spoken to a community returning from exile, tasked with the sacred mission of rebuilding the temple, the house of prayer in Jerusalem. Though they returned with zeal, they quickly encountered opposition: political resistance, financial hardship, drought, and deep discouragement. The work seemed small, especially in light of the former glory of Solomon’s temple. 

Yet it was into this very moment of weariness and delay that God spoke. This work will not be accomplished by human strength or effort but by My Spirit.

I believe this is the word of the Lord for The Rock in this season. As we press forward to increase prayer and build a place of day and night worship, we’re reminded that this work will be accomplished not through our own power, but by the Spirit of God.

He is the One who will provide the grace, the resources, and the spiritual strength we need. Our part is simply to remain faithful. To ask, seek, knock and to trust Him to move.

Let us lean in together, confident that the Holy Spirit is building His house of prayer among us.
