The Service
A typical service is around two and a half hours long, and includes announcements, corporate prayer, praise-and-worship, ministry time, and a message. However, it is important to us that we make room for the Holy Spirit’s leading and some services look different than others.
Our service dress code is casual with an atmosphere of people who love God and come together to share in that love. Our hope is for people to come as they are. None of us are perfect, but we’re united by a common love for Jesus.
Worship
We typically worship for about an hour and a half out of our two and a half hour service. We believe it is very important to wait and linger on the leading of the Lord in our services, and one of the ways we do this is through worship. There is plenty of room in our sanctuary to move wherever feels best, and we also provide flags at the front of our sanctuary for people who want to worship with them. If you find the sound level to be slightly high during a particular service, we provide ear plugs on the tables in the back as well as Bibles and tissues for whomever may need them. We hope to worship with you at a Sunday service!
Message
Each week our teaching team of pastors will deliver a message that inspires and equips you to be all that God has called you to be. We believe that God has called each of us for His purposes, and we learn each week how we can bring His Kingdom to Earth as it is in Heaven.
Accommodations
We understand most people need some caffeine to get and stay going in the mornings. We offer free drip coffee at little stations near the front door.
We have multiple restroom/changing rooms on site as well as a nursing mothers room that allows moms to be engaged in the service while caring for their little ones.
Children
If you have children, they are going to love the children and youth programs at The Rock.
For children 6 weeks – 5 years we have a fantastic nursery & preschool ministry that will love on your kiddos while you enjoy the service without distraction.
Children in 1st – 4th grade get to have services in “Rock Island” with where they’ll learn all about Jesus and how to love God.
Youth
As children transition out of Children’s Ministry and step into Student Ministry, we have some excellent ways for them to get involved on a Sunday morning.
On Sunday mornings students in 5th-8th grade start out in the adult services for our multi-generational worship. After worship they are dismissed from the stage to head back to the Student Center Auditorium for “Club58” where they’ll learn a lesson about living lives for Christ.
High school students on Sunday mornings also join our main service for worship and then are dismissed to a High school group led by some of our amazing youth leaders. Students can either remain in the main service or join the group in the Chapel. This group is intentionally focused on teaching the Word of God in a small setting and equipping High schoolers to be powerful disciples.
On Wednesday nights, youth (6th-12th grade) meet in the Student Center Auditorium for worship and a message at 6:45pm. Learn more at basecampsm.com
