Hello Beautiful Rock Family,
The Word of God says, “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.  For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (2 Cor 4:18)   I have read this scripture many times, but as I read this the other day, it hit me in a new and powerful way!  I believe we are entering into a time where these words carry even more significant weight than ever before.  The Greek word for “fix our eyes” also means to “direct our attention to”.  NOW IS THE TIME for us to direct our attention to the very things the Lord desires and remove our gaze from temporal, meaningless things or as the Message version puts it, the things that are “here today, gone tomorrow”.  I want to challenge you to prepare in this same way and ask the Lord how we are to direct our attention.Today is our final day of the 3-day fast!  I am hopeful that during this fast you have had amazing times of prayer with the Lord and encounters of His presence!  Remember – we are concluding our time of Prayer & Fasting this evening (8/5) with a prayer and worship service at 6:45pm in the sanctuary.  As I write this email, I believe the Lord is giving us strategies for this season on how to “prepare the way of the Lord”.   It has become even more evident over the past two days that this is a critical time for us to prepare for the things to come.  Have you ever prayed for something you weren’t prepared to have answered?  I believe this is a time the Lord is stirring us to PREPARE for the very things we have been asking for.  I am excited that Brian Fenimore will also be joining us this evening.

If you are hearing or sensing the Lord’s leading on something during your time of prayer and fasting, please email Family@therock.org with whatever the Lord is showing you for The Rock.

CARE PORTAL – Amazing way to help people in need!
We have an extraordinary opportunity for all our Rock family.  And there is no commitment if you sign up.  By signing up, you will get emails from Douglas County and from us with opportunities to help people in the community.  It will be your choice at that point what you want to do with it.  I will say, you will be blessed as you take the opportunity to bless others and meet specific needs and then also take the time to pray with them.  Some of these people will likely never step foot in a church and may have never experienced the love of Jesus.   This opportunity is right in line with what we are doing on Sundays and throughout the week…this just makes it a little easier.  🙂

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Hi Rock Family,
It is a time of preparation!  In 2 Chronicles 20 there was a vast army coming against the kingdom of Judah.  Chances of survival according to the poles…0%!  Any “wise” king would tell their nation to fortify and prepare for battle.  But King Jehoshaphat did something that baffled the wisdom of the world.  He resolved to “inquire of the Lord” and he called ALL the people of Judah to fast and seek the Lord.  I can tell you there is not one military strategy book in the world that would recommend having your army fast before going into battle.  In our own lives, we often rely on God until we really need help and then we shift our trust to our own strength and wisdom to try and get us through the battle.  But the Word of God says, “It is in our WEAKNESS that we are STRONG”.   So when we fast, it positions us for weakness in our bodies and when we pray, it humbles us into a dependence on the Lord.  These are the times when we see the power and the glory of God!

We believe very strongly the Lord is calling us into 3 days of Fasting & Prayer.   We not only feel the importance of this, but the urgency of it.  We can’t explain exactly why, but have found that is it best to obey now and ask questions later.  This time of fasting is vital to the preparation of hearts and wineskins for this next season.  We also believe the Lord is about to bring us into new revelation and understanding of worship to the Lord.
We will start the fast next Monday morning, August 3rd and go through Wednesday evening, August 5th.   I would encourage you to clear your schedules as best you can to spend as much time as possible seeking the Lord throughout these days.  I realize many of you are working Monday, but I want to invite everyone to join the Rock staff on Monday morning in the Student Auditorium (gym) as we start off the fast with worship, prayer, and seeking the Lord.  We will be there from 9-12pm, but you are welcome to come in for any portion or stay the entire time.
Also, we plan to end the time of Prayer & Fasting on Wednesday evening (8/5) with a prayer and worship service at 6:45pm in the sanctuary.  Brian Fenimore will be joining us and may have some prophetic words to release over individuals and us as a church.  We are excited for this time of preparation and for how the Lord is going to use this time to prepare us for what is to come.  Please email Family@therock.org with anything the Lord is showing you for the body during this time.

SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE (8/2)   9:45am –  *In-Person & On-line*
**This Sunday we are planning to go out again into the communities after the service.  Dress in comfortable clothing.  Sunday is expected to be a great day to go out with a high of 81 and partly cloudy.  The Lord has been doing amazing things every week.  If you haven’t gone out, I want to encourage you to connect with someone who has and go with them.  I believe the Lord will radically move through you if you give Him the chance.

I love that we are becoming ambassadors of Jesus to the lost!  Remember – We are moving from the Comfort Zone to the Combat Zone and this requires that we LOVE the one in front of us.  We must be “unconventional” (allow the Holy Spirit to lead) and “intentional” (in sharing the love of Jesus and the truth of the gospel)!

“Let us not become weary in doing good…persevere!”

Hi Rock Family,
This week as I have been praying for you, I felt the need to give encouragement.   Sometimes we need a reminder that as children of God, we are not of this world.  Meaning that we have the ability to operate outside the laws of the world system.  We are able to see and move with power within the supernatural…the heavenly realms.  We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to take down the strongholds and destroy false arguments and prideful obstacles that keeps others from knowing God.  (2 Cor 10:4-5)   And we have the Holy Spirit on the inside of us and are clothed with power from on high!  (Luke 24:49)  So don’t forget who you are and whose you are!  When we know our identity, we will begin to operate in the very purpose of what we were created for.
Galatians 6 says, “Don’t allow yourselves to be weary or disheartened in planting good seeds (in doing good works), for the season of reaping the wonderful harvest you’ve planted is coming!  Take advantage of every opportunity to be a blessing to others.”
Life on this earth and in this world was never meant to be easy.  We are of a kingdom that clashes with the kingdom of this world…oil & water.  So we will go through struggles.  But take joy in how the Holy Spirit is using these struggles to mold us into His likeness – into maturity and a completeness.  In our weakness, we learn to operate in His strength…rest in Him…abide in Him.
James 1 says, Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”
And in Hebrews 10:36 it says, “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.”
So the joy that comes in the perseverance (maintained faith through prayer and obedient action with a reliance on the Holy Spirit), is that we will receive God’s promises, blessings, and rewards!  And don’t forget, we were created to do this together, as one, in humility considering each other better than ourselves…for the glory of God through Christ Jesus.

“In The Home” – 7/1/2020

Hi Rock Family,

This week the Lord is engaging many of us into new challenges.  Giving of our time is one thing, but opening up our homes and giving of our time is a whole different game.  I am praying for you that the Holy Spirit would strengthen you and equip you with everything you need as you rely on Him!   Remember:  Don’t let the 3-ft bird that constantly belittles you (insecurity), the 1-ft ogre who kicks your ankles (fear), the suit of armor who stands in front of you (pride), the hag who throws up food on your table (doubt), or the giant in the basement who slimes you (shame) be the things that hold you back from your very calling and purpose in life!  If you haven’t seen this story from Jake Hamilton, it is a MUST SEE.  Click on the following link:   https://youtu.be/mzTEhgQZMg0

Psalm 139 tells us that we were intricately woven together with each day on this earth fashioned specifically for each of us.  The precious thoughts of the Lord are so numerous for every one of us that they outnumber the grains of sand on the earth!   I want to encourage you to listen only to the Creator’s thoughts about you.  He is the only one that truly knows you.  Don’t listen to the lies of the very one who wants to steal, kill, and destroy!   Also, so important to remember that you were not created for YOU.  You were created for the GLORY of GOD!

That being said, let His glory be revealed as you open your home and LOVE your neighbor this weekend.    Remember the challenge:  Ask the Holy Spirit to direct you to who you should open your home to this weekend.  Invite someone or a family over for lunch on Sunday or whatever day/time works and have an INTENTIONAL meal with them!

Some Basic Instructions for THIS WEEK:

-> During this week – ask the Lord who you are to invite into your home.  He will show you.  Don’t worry about the outcome.  Your job is just to invite them.

-> Remember when I say “your neighbor”, this can be a co-worker, friend, enemy, or a real neighbor.  This is not inviting your best friends to hang out.  This is loving those who don’t know Jesus or maybe encouraging someone who has walked away from a relationship with Jesus.

-> This Sunday we will have a short service (approx. 1 hr).  This is to give you time to have someone over for lunch on Sunday or prepare for an early dinner with another family in your home.

-> Keep it SIMPLE!  Don’t make a fancy dinner and have everything perfect.  Be real.  You are inviting them into your home…not into a showroom!

-> Be Non-Conventional & Intentional!    Allow the Holy Spirit to change things up and be the leader.   And be intentional about sharing Jesus.   Look for Spirit-led openings.  Let it come from a heart of love for them and please don’t get religious!  Remember – Kingdom moves at the speed of RELATIONSHIP…Not RELIGION.  Religion is what killed Jesus.

-> Pray for the guest(s) you are going to have in your home throughout the week.  Prepare your home, prepare the food, and prepare the ATMOSPHERE!  (Be spiritually prepared)

-> Depend on the Holy Spirit to help you.  He is our HELPER!

-> Listen to them and to their story.  I believe the opportunities will present themselves as we wait for the promptings of the Spirit.

-> You may not be harvesting this Sunday, you may just be planting seeds.  But remember – the seed is the Word of God.  It is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword!

-> Don’t end your time together without offering to pray over them.  And pray in your home!

*REMEMBER:  In your home, you rule.  Don’t be intimidated.  You have authority to set the atmosphere!

I pray you all have a blessed 4th of July with family, friends, and NEIGHBORS.   Let’s never forget to make the most out of every opportunity (Eph 5), having the boldness of Paul to fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel as an ambassador of Christ (Eph 6) and may we live by faith and NEVER shrink back, but persevere with our eyes on Jesus (Heb 10 & 12).

May His love be the fuel that propels us to pour out our lives for the glory of God!
