"Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy
Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I have
commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19)
At The Rock we take these words seriously. We believe
in the Holy Spirit’s ability to radically change
lives and we desire to be a part of God’s pursuit
of lost souls. We do this by heeding Paul’s admonition
in Romans 15:20-21, “…to preach the Gospel
where Christ is not known, so that I would not be building
on someone else’s foundation.”
Current Projects involved in bringing the
Gospel to the unreached include:
Lakota (Sioux) Outreach
The Rock has been ministering to the Lakota people on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation and the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota since 2004. There are unlimited ministry opportunities available including a Christmas Gift Outreach each December, a youth camp, a works and ministry trip plus other opportunities during the year.
These two reservations are the poorest of the poor in the USA and there is no area in the country that is in greater need of God’s healing touch. The children on these two reservations are at extreme risk with the nation’s highest youth suicide rate, child abuse rate, drop-out rate, etc. You can help us make a difference in the lives of these precious people.
This is an affordable opportunity for your entire family to experience cross-cultural missions located right in our own backyard. We have had children as young as 6 months and seniors as old as 75 participate in our trips. Please contact Max Wharton at 720-215-8885 for information.
The “Untouchables”
In
November 2003, Pastor JR participated in a trip to
meet the people of India who are deemed “untouchable”.
These “untouchables”, or Dalits, are
born into their caste and therefore, by virtue of
birth, face a lifetime of poverty, injustice and
degradation. They are considered to be literally “untouchable” by
the rest of Indian society.
As a result of this trip, The
Rock purposed to participate
in improving the lives of these
people. We are working with Operation
Mobilization (OM) India and The
Dalit Freedom Network to build
a Dalit Education Center (DEC)
in Bangalore, India. This center
will provide Dalit children with
education which in turn will
bring authentic freedom to the
Dalit people.
